Taking the high road

In business, like in life we face difficult situations. It is easy to be carried by the heat of the moment and give into the blame game. Chances of success can be improved by shifting the focus from what was not done to what needs to be done. No amount of intellectual capital can overcome poor planning and lack of preparation. Good managers know this, exceptional managers instill it in their people. When someone is trying to throw you under the bus rather than face their own shortcomings it is better to be the one that provides the plan that will move the effort forward. After all, there will always be time later to discuss lessons learned.
